Description

Moving the Giants to Puget Sound: Redwood Saplings Project

Speaker: Philip Stielstra

Doors to the event open at 6:30 pm for socializing, and the program will begin at 7 pm.

Come hear Philip Stielstra talk about his project Moving the Giants to Puget Sound. Over 300 Champion Coast Redwoods, clones of some of the largest coast redwoods in the world, are now in 30 Puget Sound communities. The project captures the genetics of the oldest and largest redwoods to ensure these magnificent trees are there for our children and our children’s children.

Philip Stielstra is a Seattle Tree Ambassador and a volunteer steward of the urban forest. He is also a modern-day Johnny Appleseed who believes California's giant sequoias and coast redwoods are blessed with some of the heartiest genetics of any trees on Earth — and that propagating them will be good for the planet and future generations.
